Born in Rockport on Feb. 25, 1922, he was the son of Orris E. Burns Sr. and Orra (Meader) Burns. He was a graduate of Rockport High School and served two tours of military duty with the U.S. Army during World War II. On June 5, 1943, he married Doris Angie Nickerson in Lincolnville.
Mr. Burns was employed at the C.W. Hopkins Company in Camden and worked as the parts manager for Moody Pontiac & Buick in Rockland for more than 40 years. He served as a Cub Scout leader and Boy Scout leader in the Boy Scouts of America for many years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the John Street United Methodist Church.
