Obituary
An old man, Patrick Berrell, aged 80, strayed from his home last evening. A search was made all night without avail, but his dead body was found in Phil's River two miles from home at 6 o'clock this morning. Berrell had lately been given to wandering about, he evidently lost his way and fell into the river last night. An inquest was held to-day by the district Coroner (Mr. S. L. Cox), when a verdict of death by drowning was returned. There was no evidence to show how he got into the river. Deceased was perhaps the oldest resident of the district, he came to Thalaba when he was 10 years old.
