MarriageEdit

Patrick married a Mary Ann Carroll who also was from Ireland. They had 1 son Patrick Henry and 2 daughters: Alice and Teresa Kenny. Patrick spelled his last name as Kenney.

• Alice M. Kenny (1856-1941) married John B. Acken (1856-1944). They are both buried in the Ten Mile Run Cemetery in Somerset New Jersey.
• Teresa Kenny (1864-?) married George W. Russell (New York 1858 to 26 Jan 1893) on 22 Feb 1887. George was in the shoe business when he married Teresa. That marriage ended with the death of George in 1893.

Alice and George had two children that we know of. The first was a George W. Russell born circa 1887 in Jersey City New Jersey. The second child was Alice Kenny Russell born 29 Dec 1888 in Jersey City New Jersey.

Teresa married for a second time to a Herman Swanson (20 Nov 1870 to 30 Apr 1924) on 31 Jan 1899. Herman hailed from Sweden. They had no children. When Herman died Teresa went to live with her niece Mary Jane (Jennie) (Kenny) (McGurr) Wild. After Mary Jane died she went to live with her sister Alice. She is still alive on the 1940 Census but I can not find her after that.

BiographyEdit

John Kenny and Patrick Kenny (or Kenney as they sometime spelled it) came over from Ireland during the 1846 famine. They both ended up in New York City. John was born about 1827 and Patrick was born about 1835. John met and married a Jane Kennedy who was also from Ireland. They married on 17 Mar 1849 and had five children: Bridget, James, Joseph, Francis and Thomas. John went into the Civil War from NYC and when he was discharged he went to rejoin his family on Grove St., Jersey City NJ. Patrick married a Mary Ann Carroll who also was from Ireland. They had 1 son Patrick Henry and 2 daughters: Alice and Teresa Kenny. Patrick had: Patrick Henry Kenney and Alice M. Kenny (1856-1941) who married John Bunyan Acken (1856-1944). He was a physician so hopefully she had a nice life. Theresa Kenney (1864-?) married George W. Russell (1858-?) but that marriage didn't work out and she married a second time to a Herman Swanson. We find Teresa Swanson living with her sister and brother in law on the 1940 NJ Federal Census. Patrick probably died in New York City NY and John died in Jersey City, New Jersey.
