Rebecca Perkins Howe was born 1692 in Wenham, Essex County, Massachusetts to John Perkins (1654-1716) and Mary Fiske (1655-1695) and died 3 July 1774 Middlesex County, Massachusetts of unspecified causes. She married Thomas Howe (1692-1777) 26 April 1715 in Wenham, Essex County, Massachusetts.

Biography

See the book, "Howe Genealogies," which can be found on ancestry.com. The entry for Thomas and Rebecca is found on page 30. According to this source, Thomas Howe was born in Marlborough, Mass., 16 June 1692; married 26 April 1715, to Rebecca Perkins, daughter of John and Mary (Fiske) Perkins of Wenham, where she was baptized 1692, and died in Marlborough, 3 July 1774 or 1794. He died 2 April 1777. In the records of Essex Co., Register of Deeds (vol. 41, p. 232) is found an agreement (dated 23 March 1715 and recorded 23 Feb. 1722-3) between Capt. Thomas Fiske of Wenham, Mass., and Capt. Thomas Howe of Marlborough, Mass, reciting the proposed marriage of Thomas How, son of Capt. How, and Rebekah Perkins, "a relative of sd Capt. Fiske and brought up by him," and providing for a marriage settlement to be made by Capt. How upon Rebekah.

Rebecka does not have a birth listed in Wenham vital records. And despite the fact that she is from a large family, only one sister (Ester) is included with a birth record in Wenham vital records. Her father and mother are mentioned "The Family of John Perkins of Ipswich, Mass: Complete in Three Parts" which can be found online here: https://archive.org/details/familyofjohnperk00perk (see page 8; there is more than one page 8) which lists the children of John Perkins and Mary Fiske - 8 children are listed, including Rebecka [with a modernized spelling].

This couple's marriage intentions were recorded in Wenham vital records (which can be found online): How, Thomas, jr. of Marlboro, and Rebackah Perkins, int. Apr. 3, 1715.

There are pages and pages of "Howes" born in Marlborough, including the following entries for this couple:

  1. Thomas, s. Thomas and Rebeckah, June 20, 1716 at Wanham
  2. Mary, d. Thomas and Rebecah, June 30, 1718
  3. Ezekiel, s. Thomas and Rebecah, June 29, 1720
  4. Simon, s. Thomas and Rebecah, Oct. 28, 1722
  5. Sarah, d. Thomas and Rebecah, July 4, 1725
  6. Rebakah, d. Thomas and Rebecah, Aug. 16, 1727

In addition to the birth records for the children of Thomas and Rebecah in Marlborough records, there are also birth records for his siblings, the children of his parents Thomas and Sarah. And birth records for his grandchildren, the children of his son Thomas and his wife Doratha. In addition, there are two records which are baptismal records, not birth records, and for which there is no mother mentioned:

  1. Charles, s. Thomas, bap. Feb. 25, 1722
  2. Samuel, s. Thomas, bap. Feb. 9, 1724.

This Thomas appears to be the only Thomas living in Marlborough and having children in the 1720s. And the Howe Genealogies lists Samuel as a son of this Thomas. But what about Charles?
