I tried bicycling from Phitsanulok Province to Phichit from Ban Dongphayom with my cousin on a pink girls bicycle designed for a 10 year old. He rode another bicycle designed for a 10 year old. The chain kept falling off and the seat kept twisting to the side on mine, so we switched every half-hour. We made it as far as a roadhouse serving food and drink after three-hours. We were able to call home and get them to pick us up in a pickup truck.
• Basel, Switzerland (Saturday, January 12, 2008 - Saturday, January 19, 2008) I flew from Philadelphia to Zurich, then took the train to Basel and stayed at the Hotel Alpha at 4127 Birsfelden at the intersection of Haupstrasse. The hotel is right at the Birs river, which flows into the Rhine, just a few blocks north of the hotel. I arrived around noon Sunday local time, and took a nap, watched tv, then went to bed early to reset my clock. In the morning I met Jon and Christof in the dining room. Breakfast was yogurt, salami, croissants, orange juice, brie and soft boiled eggs.
