He married Albenia Walker (c1797-1829) 1 October 1816 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. He married Elizabeth Milson (c1802-1876) 28 September 1837 .

He arrived in Australia 9 October 1813 on the Earl Spencer as a convict. [free on a Convict ship. He was one of 4 men un-named working for John Dickson]
