Richard I the Lion-Hearted Plantagenet, King of England, Duke of Normandy, Duke of Aquitaine, Count of Anjou and Maine, was born 8 September 1157 in Beaumont Palace, Oxford, England, United Kingdom to Henry II of England (1133-1189) and Eleanor of Aquitaine (1122-1204) and died 6 April 1199 in Châlus Limoges, Limosin, France of unspecified causes. He married Berengaria of Navarre (c1163-c1231) 12 May 1191 JL in Limassol, Cyprus. Notable ancestors include Henry II of England (1133-1189), William I of England (1027-1087), Charlemagne (747-814), Hugh Capet (c940-996), Alfred the Great (849-899).
