Obituary

MR ROBERT BYERS

An old and highly esteemed resident of Ulan, Mr Robert Byers, passed away at the residence of his daughter, Mrs H. Carr, on November 7, aged 74. Deceased was a native of Victoria, and came to the Ulan district about sixty years ago, and spent the remainder of his life there. Mr Byers had many friends throughout the Mudgee and Gulgong districts, who will learn of his death with sorrow. He was predeceased by his wife, who passed away, some seventeen years ago in Sydney. Much sympathy is felt for the sons and daughters left to mourn their loss: Charles and Patrick (Ulan), George, Samuel and John (Quirindi) Mrs H. Carlisle (Murragamba), Mrs.H. Carr (Ulan.), Mrs T. G. Phillips (Coonabarabran), Mrs A. Ryan (Turill), Ernest (Ulan), and John and David (Western Australia) are brothers of the deceased. Mr Byers had forty one grand Children, and twenty one great grand children. The remains were laid to rest in the Church of England portion of the Ulan cemetery, the Rev. L. V. Caldwell performed the last sad rites at the grave-side. Mr S. Turner of Gulgong, had charge of the funeral arrangements.
