Sam Nunn was born 8 September 1938 in Perry, Houston County, Georgia, United States to Samuel Augustus Nunn (1888-1965) and Mary Elizabeth Cannon (1903-2000) . He married Colleen Ann O'Brien (1937) 25 September 1965 in Seattle, King County, Washington, United States. Ancestors are from the United States.


Nunn, born September 8, 1938, is an American lawyer, politician; serving as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives and a United States Senator from Georgia. He is the great-nephew of the United States Congressman Carl Vinson (1883-1981) and a fourth cousin of U.S. President Jimmy Carter (1924).
