Samuel Doty was born 27 August 1679 in Piscataway Township, New Jersey to Samuel Doty (c1643-1715) and Jane Harmon (c1660-aft1716) and died after 1746 of unspecified causes. He married Elizabeth Hull (1679-) 19 September 1700 in Piscataway, New Jersey.

Samuel Doty was a member of the Seventh Day Baptist Church of Piscataway, Middlesex County, New Jersey. He removed before 1746 to the vicinity of Phillipsburg in what was then Morris County, but is now Warren County, New Jersey.
