Sarah Elizabeth "Bessie" Watson was the fourth child of Jacob Watson III and his wife Sibbie Gertrude Willcox. She was born in or near Hawkinsville, Pulaski Co., GA. She seems to have been a very nice, quiet person, but perhaps not all that pretty, at least if you try to read between the lines of the article on her marriage. She was a good catch for her husband as her father was a lawyer, local judge and one-time mayor of Hawkinsville. She seems to have been the very antithesis of her violent tempered, intimidating husband. They were married in her parents' home in Hawkinsville. My grandfather apparently took after her in temperament. Both her husband and her father have minor streets named after them in Hawkinsville. She was probably the primary caretaker for her daughter Ruth, who contracted polio and was crippled for most of her life.
