Serring Doty was born circa 1775 in New Jersey to Daniel Doty (c1755-1832) and Theodosia Serring (?-?) and died at an unspecified date. Serring Doty moved to Butler County, Ohio prior to March of 1832. Probably he arrived there with his father in 1814. In 1850 he was a locktender living in Morgan Township of Butler County.
