Employment

Taylor was superintendent of the Turkish and swimming baths in Boston, having first overseen the baths in Montréal, Canada. A Quebec newspaper reported "Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Taylor of Manchester, England, and lately of Boston, have arrived and are now superintending the finishing parts of the Turkish and swimming baths. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor are recognized authorities on Turkish baths ...".

He later joined the training staff of the Harvard University football team.

Sidney first married, before 1873, probably in West Yorkshire, Mary Unknown (1846-1881). He secondly married in the Protestant Episcopal Church, St. Peter's Parish, Cambridge, Massachusetts, on June 1, 1897 Elspet Symon (1857-1924) a native of Charlestown, Aberlour Parish, Banffshire, Scotland and daughter of David Symon (1833-1893) and Jane Anderson (1827-1892). Their only child was Harry Symon Taylor (1898-1982).
