Sophie Hedwig von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel was born 20 February 1592 in Wolfenbüttel, Lower Saxony, Germany to Heinrich Julius von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel (1564-1613) and Elisabeth of Denmark (1573-1625) and died 23 January 1642 in Arnhem, Gelderland, Netherlands of unspecified causes. She married Ernst Casimir van Nassau-Dietz (1573-1632) 8 June 1607 in Gröningen, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.
