South Africa

Wikipedia has a page called:
South Africa occupies the southern tip of Africa. It was home to dark-skinned peoples for over 100,000 years before pushy palefaces arrived and took over. Dutch from about 1652 and British from about 1795. The Dutch moved inland but the British eventually followed.
The Anglo-Boer War from 1899-1902 (basically for control of the world's biggest gold deposit) gave the English supremacy, but the Dutch influence remains in the fact that one of the eleven official languages is the Dutch-derived Afrikaans.
