Sylvester Sylvanis Doty was born 16 June 1885 in Kane County, Illinois, United States to Franklin Bake Doty (1850-1935) and Esther Ann Davison (1853-1920) and died 27 September 1953 Dorr Township, McHenry County, Illinois, United States of unspecified causes. He married Emma Augusta Kiel (1890-1983) 30 March 1910 in Hampshire, Kane County, Illinois, United States.
In 1910 Vet rented a dairy farm in Plato Township, Kane County, Illinois.[1] About 1913 he purchased with his brother Elmer a 200 acre farm in Dorr Township, McHenry Co, Illinois. Later he bought out Elmer's share. In 1930 Vet owned a farm in Dorr Township, McHenry County, Illinois, but didn't own a radio.[2] He was instrumental in organizing his neighbors to deepen the branch of the Kishwaukee River which drained his farm, permitting him with the help of his wife's brother Henry to drain previously untillable acreage. Vet purchased with his son Kenneth and Kenneth's wife an adjoining 200 acre farm, making Doty Farms a 400 acre dairy farm. He was elected school trustee for Dorr Township on the Independent Party.
