The States-General from January to August met in plenary session to discuss the political situation in the Republic after the sudden death of Prince Willem II in November 1650. This special meeting was held in the Great Hall in the Hague Binnenhof, the former court of the Counts of Holland built in the 13th century. The present name 'Ridderzaal' dates from the 19th century. | |
