Thomas, the first son of James Stickler and Sarah Angell was born in Pucklechurch, Bristol, England in 1817. He remained a bachelor and worked as a bootmaker in Pucklechurch. The 1861 census shows he lived with his widowed mother and worked as a bootmaker assisted by his two younger brothers, Enoch (age 24) and Edwin (age 18) who similarly worked as bootmakers.
Thomas died in 1866 at the age of fifty years and was buried in Pucklechurch on 28 January 1866.
