He married Isabella Guthrie (1847-1897) 1870 in New Zealand. Ancestors are from the United Kingdom.

Obituary

Mr Thomas Crowther Plante, who died at his home, Caulfield, on February 18, was well known in the city, where, in partnership with one of his sons, he represented a leading English firm of hide and leather merchants. Mr Plante leaves four sons and six daughters.
