Thomas Hunt Morgan was a Confederate soldier in the American Civil War. Morgan participated in his brother John's raid (Morgan's Raid) into Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio in July 1863. Thomas died in an early engagement in Lebanon, Kentucky while rushing a strongly defended railroad depot held by veteran Union troops. Young Thomas's death greatly saddened his brother, General John Hunt Morgan, but did not dissuade him from invading Indiana 4 days later against express orders not to do so.
