Thomas Stanley, 2nd Earl of Derby was born 1485 to George Stanley, 9th Baron Strange (c1460-1503) and Joan le Strange, 9th Baroness Strange of Knockyn (c1463-1513) and died 23 May 1521 of unspecified causes. He married Anne Hastings (c1485-1550) 1505 JL .
