"His son Thomas de Macclesfield, succeeded. He was bailiff of Macclesfield and lord of Staley or Stavely, as appears by his post mortem inquesition, 1 Edward I, 1272. Peter de Arderne assigned to him the custody of the manor and church of Gawsworth during the minory of the eldest son of Thomas de Orreby."
