Francis Willis (c1612-c1691) wrote his will in 1689, identifying his place of birth as the Parish of St. Faukes al St. Alsford in Oxford, England. From his subsequent history he appears to have come from a well placed family in Oxford. His parents are as yet confirmed, but some believe his grandfather to be a Francis Willis who was associated with the University of Oxford 1557-1590. This Francis Willis is thought by some to have had two sons, Francis and John Willis (1587-?), and that Francis was Francis III's father. See Alumnae Oxoniensis, for details
