Walter Ahrens Lahey was born circa 1892 in Walcha, New South Wales, Australia to Michael Lahey (c1850-1927) and Harriet Ahrens (1860-1903) and died 26 August 1937 at Western Suburbs Hospital in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia of Pneumonia. He married Edith Susan Farrell (1901-c1977) 1923 in St Peters, New South Wales, Australia. Ancestors are from Australia, Germany.

He was an accomplished musician, playing the cornet. Won many medals for his musical ability. He was a band Sergeant during World War I and played a solo before King George V at Buckingham Palace.
