Walter Ostrander was a farmer in Schodack, Rensselaer County, New York. He owned one of the largest farmsteads in the area, known as "Brookview, Rensselaer County".


Biography Edit

Walter Ostrander (September 12, 1806 - September 17, 1880) was the youngest son of Captain Johannes A. Ostrander, a Continental Army Officer in the American Revolutionary War, and his wife Sarah Campbell. He was born on the farm that he would later inherit, and lived his life in the vicinity of Rensselaer County.

He married Eliza Ann Wilbur (February 23, 1814 - August 1, 1887) in Albany, New York, in 1835. They had 11 children: George W. Ostrander, Georgianna Ostrander, Sarah Ann Ostrander, Abram Cline Ostrander, Martha Jane Ostrander, James Edward Ostrander, Walter Carpenter Ostrander, Mary Elizabeth Ostrander, Mary Elizabeth Ostrander, John Thomas Ostrander, Franklin Clark Ostrander, and Ella Louise Ostrander.

Walter Ostrander was interred in Mountain View Cemetery, Castleton-on-Hudson, New York.
