Walter Rotton was born 7 March 1800 in Tooting, Surrey, England, United Kingdom to John Rotton (1772-aft1799) and Ann Hogg (1773-aft1799) and died 15 August 1864 Patricks Plains, New South Wales, Australia of pneumonia. He married Jane Meredith (1794-1836) 1827 Church of Christ in Hexham, New South Wales, Australia.

He arrived in Hobart, Tasmania on 8 November 1821 on the Mariner. He sailed for Sydney, New South Wales on 26 April 1822 on the Castle Forbes.
