William Cox was born 19 December 1764 at 5 King St in Wimborne Minster, Dorset, England, United Kingdom to Robert Cox (1730-c1764) and Jane Harvey (1736-?) and died 15 March 1837 at 'Fairfield' in Windsor, New South Wales, Australia of unspecified causes. He married Rebecca Upjohn (1762-1819) 1 February 1789 in Devizes, Wiltshire, England, United Kingdom. He married Anna Blachford (1796-1869) 23 January 1821 at St Johns in Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia.


He arrived in Sydney, New South Wales 11 Jan 1800 on the Minerva with his wife and their 4 (then) youngest sons, Charles, George, Henry and Frederick.
