William Thomas Rankin I (1890-1970) US Army Sergeant in World War I; and later an Inspector at the Barge Office (b. December 23, 1890, Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey, 07307, USA - d. New Year's Eve, December 31, 1970, Veteran's Hospital, Fort Hamilton, Brooklyn, Kings County, New York City, New York, 11220, USA) Social Security Number 079163240.


He was the son of George S. Rankin (1866-1943) and Catherine Doyle (1869-1897). Katherine died at a young age in Manhattan on April 28, 1897. Her death certificate number was "13133" and she was listed as "Katherine Rankin".


World War IEdit

He started military service on May 18, 1917 and ended on June 18, 1919. He was a mess Sergeant in the US Army.


He married Katherine Agnes McLaughlin (1893-1989) on June 24, 1926 at Saint Paul's Roman Catholic Church, 14 Greenville Avenue, Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey.


He died in 1970 when he was living at 550 - 55th Street, Brooklyn, N.Y. 11220. he was a gentleman.


He was interred at the Long Island National Cemetery on January 05, 1971.


He was born the day before Christmas Eve and he died on New Years Eve.
